:: Health and Safety

The nursery is staffed with a fully qualified full time registered Nurse. The Nurse maintains each child's medical records, and is responsible for all health and safety aspects of the children and the nursery in general. She also coordinates visits from the government health services and the visits from the school doctor, and organises school medicals as required.

The school Doctor visits the nursery once a week and conducts full medical checkup of the children.

Good health is an important factor in helping your child to develop their various skills effectively and to reach his/her full potential within the nursery environment. The nurse works with the children in a variety of ways helping to build relationships with them and their families.

Absence And Injuries
Control Of Infectious Diseases

Children occasionally become ill, upset or have a minor injury in nursery. The nursery nurse will deal with all such cases. If a child requires further medical attention, we always try to contact the parents. If unable to do so the school doctor will be contacted and the child will be taken to the Jebel Ali Village Medical Centre which is one minute drive away from the Nursery.

Small children have low resistance to infection. Please keep your child at home if he/she is not feeling well, has a cold, fever, sticky eyes, is vomiting or has diarrhea, as infection can spread very quickly. Please inform the nurse of your child's condition via phone or a written note as soon as possible.

All infectious diseases are notifiable. Please ensure that either your child's class teacher or the nurse is notified if your child is suffering from any illness, especially infectious diseases as soon as possible.

All children returning to the Nursery after suffering from an infectious disease must bring a Doctor's Clearance Certificate.

We do not have the authority to give any medicine in the Nursery, except paracetamol syrup, after acquiring your written permission at the time of your child's registration.

Health Cards

The Department of Health and medical services require that all school children should possess a valid health card. Some private companies may provide health insurance that covers this.

Medical Forms

Medical forms are given to you when your child joins the nursery. Please advise the nurse if your child is under any medical treatment or is allergic to anything, so that she could make appropriate arrangements for his/her care.

Nursery Medicals And Doctors Visits

The Nursery (Pediatrician) visits the nursery and weekly all children undergo routine medical examinations by the doctor. You are welcome to be present during yours child's checkup if you wish to do so. You will be notified in writing prior to the medical and a letter is sent home following the medical with the relevant findings.

Immunisation

Please ensure that your child's immunization is up to date prior to joining the Nursery and keep the nurse updated with any further immunization that your child receives. The department of health officials regularly visits the nursery to check the children's medical records.
